Thebarton Bioscience Precinct

The Thebarton Bioscience Precinct is home to one of the largest clusters of bioscience companies in Australia.

The Precinct area covers 7ha and is situated just 3km from the central business district of Adelaide, and 4km from Adelaide International Airport.  It forms part of a 12ha bioscience and advanced technology hub in collaboration with the adjacent University of Adelaide Research Park and the area houses more than 25 of South Australia’s bioscience companies.

Stage 1 of the Precinct, comprising 2.2ha was previously developed by the South Australian State Government and currently accommodates Bionomics Ltd, Hospira Adelaide Pty Ltd, Novozymes Biopharma AU Ltd, TGR Biosciences Pty Ltd, and Thermo Fisher Scientific Ltd in four purpose built facilities with building space of approximately 11,200 m².

Stage 2 of the development, comprising 4.8ha, is managed by Bio Innovation SA and offers land for development by companies in the bioscience industry. The opportunity allows for 25,000 m² of new facilities to be established for new bioscience companies. The first building project (the BioSA Incubator) was completed in June 2008.

For further information on the Thebarton Bioscience Precinct, including availability of land, please contact Ann Nelson, Director Bioscience Infrastructure at ann.nelson@bioinnovationsa.com.au.
